<<Okay all - this is the third time I write my review - I have no idea how it keeps getting deleted! Here we go again! >>
So, I was apprehensive at first in reading an action/thriller book that I thought wouldn't be going too "dark" or have no traces of horror or gore. I am a huge horror fan, and I tend to gravitate to novels in which I see those elements reflected. Thankfully, I had nothing to worry about because in lieu of horror and gore, I got a well-rounded, detailed, and thrilling story by James R. Hannibal. No chance of long-winded and drawn out scenes here. Each scene is written with purpose and is highly enjoyable.
What really did me in, however, was Talia's character. I am definitely a character-driven reader, and Talia has all the qualities I love in my female characters. She is so intelligent, badass, and clever. What's even better, is that Hannibal also made her hard-working, and forgiving. It can be difficult sometimes to have all these traits co-mingle in a character. It can be annoyingly contradicting. This is not the case with Talia. She is able to be herself and still remain part of a group - a team.
Chasing the White Lion is definitely a book worth picking up. It will satisfy your action needs while also allowing you to feast on a great story. Talia is an incredible character and definitely worth getting to know.
