In my opinion, the best kind of romance story is a funny one. In Betting on Love, Tempest was a great protagonist with her fantastic wit that could either soothe or scathe. As her opposite, Leonard is a man living in fear - a man hiding from the world. Their paths cross in an unexpected way, and Leonard is left having to decide if the truth will cost him what he’s come to hold dear.
Mary Beesley has written a witty and endearing love story between two individuals with seemingly questionable compatibility. Those are actually my favorite types of love stories. The writer places an impossible situation for the reader. They make us love their characters and be hurt by them. Yet, somehow, at the end, we end up falling in love right along with them. In her writing, Beesley has given us what love stories should always give us - hope for something more.
Ultimately, it was a light-hearted, funny, and sweet read that I recommend to readers of clean romances. This will truly be a fun and fast read for you, my friends.
