Have you by any chance noticed that I'm a romance reader? If you haven't, this must be your first trip to my blog! I'm a big fan of the romance genre - reading everything from sweet romances that give warm tingles to spicer romances that, lets face it, leaves nothing to the imagination, ha! I start with this because you should know something like that from the person giving you a review for a romance book *wink*

With that said, Whiskey on Our Shoes by Tonya Preece is an entertaining new adult romance story. (if you're not versed in romance-speak, the term "new adult" is usually used to describe a romance where characters are college-age). The story is about Eva, the daughter of a supermodel  who is careful about maintaining her identity as hidden as possible, and Alex, a college cowboy trying to escape a past fling with a much older woman. These two are attracted to each other, physically and emotionally, but their secrets and safety have them keeping each other at a distance.

I enjoyed the story of Alex and Eva's struggles and budding romance. It's what I love best about love stories - it's a story of two complex individuals learning to be with each other, for each other. There were some added details, like readers meeting Alex's sister, Lena, that I thought added a good weight to the story. Definitely the scenes between Lena and Eva were some of my favorites since we were able to see Eva interact in such a loving way.

Whiskey on Our Shoes was a sweet (with a little spice) new adult read. It was truly entertaining and I'll be giving it a 4 out of 5 stars. The only reason why I am not giving it a higher rating is based purely on my own preferences. I don't necessarily enjoy the concept/theme/inclusion of family dynamics in my love stories (I know, I am definitely the odd one out in the reader community), but I did enjoy the inclusion of Lena in this story.

Ultimately, I believe that we will be seeing great things from Preece in the future and readers who don't mind a some romance in their lives will definitely enjoy this read.

And They Danced by Tiffany Seitz was a fun, "light" mystery that had a great paranormal touch to it. The characters were enjoyable to read about and were well developed. I especially liked to read about Tess Corona, the main female character of this story. Tess understanding herself more as the story unravels is honestly one of my favorite aspects as a character-driven reader. The time spent developing these characters will definitely help with any upcoming additions to the Tess Corona Chronicles.

I love the idea of Texas Ranger Crock Ward seeking out the help of Dr. Lazaro Corona and his quirky family who work with (in?) the paranormal. Nothing was too heavy in terms of danger and mystery - it was just right, honestly. There was enough suspense to keep me turning the pages - and honestly, as someone who enjoys reading romance, I appreciated the the foundation of attraction between Tess and Crock. It is definitely not romance heavy - we're talking romance-lite. We're talking foundations here, reader. Definitely a great set up for what is to come. I cannot wait - I'm sure it will be a fun time, for sure!
