The Stubborn Billionaire
A Muse Novel
by Lexxie Couper

Synopsis

He had a plan for her. Her getting under his skin wasn't it.

I’ll stop at nothing to get what I want. It’s the Dyson way.
Ruthless? Maybe. But it’s what’s put me on top. And it’s what’s going to help me get revenge on the woman who put my family through hell.

I’m going to ruin Sienna Roberts.

My plan has been in play for months. She has no idea I’m the mysterious benefactor commissioning her artwork, or that the downfall in store for her will be the end of her career.

But there’s something I didn’t plan for—the way her smile and touch starts to make me forget all I blame her for…

Review

I am usually a big fan of this line of romance books, but this one left me feeling nothing. Mostly, I just finished reading it because I wanted to know what happened, but not necessarily because I cared about the characters. The story was written fine, it just didn't grab me enough to care about what happened to these two. Which is a shame.

I was mostly surprised by how fast the guy (I don't even care to look up his name) ended up getting over his "anger". I'm not against reading a vengeful story, but he did not hold up to his convictions lol. The story was definitely steamy, sexy, and all that. If that is what you're looking for, look no further. I guess I just like to care about my characters AND have sexy times.

Willing Target

Synopsis

The last thing covert operative Mitch Weaver wants is to be partnered with a gorgeous, reckless newbie. Still reeling from the death of his former partner, Mitch doesn't need the responsibility of keeping anyone else alive, especially when they volunteer to be a killer's target. Not to mention, his attraction to the too-perky blonde is the kind of distraction that could get them both killed in their line of work.

Andrea Carnegie's first assignment isn't going quite as she planned. Her partner might be sexy but he's completely frustrating with his determination to keep her out of danger. Masquerading as a billionaire's sister to bait a possible killer is her chance to shine. But if she wants to catch the person threatening their client, she’ll have to find a way to work together with Mitch while still keeping her distance. Even as the air between them sizzles, Andrea knows the worst possible thing she could do is fall for her partner.

Review

I don't read much romantic suspense (romance suspense? suspense romance? What is this called???), but I found myself intrigued by this story. Andrea wants to be taken seriously in her job, and agreeing to play a billionaire's sister in order to bait a killer is going to help her climb up that career ladder. Mitch is a veteran of the force, but finds himself drawn to Andrea - a very dangerous mix.

I am a fan of mystery-thrillers by themselves, so reading this story brought together two of my favorite genres. I appreciated that the romance did not overwhelm the plot - it didn't make us forget what was going on. If you're like me and don't know much about this genre, but enjoy a good mystery - definitely try it out!

Deception Island

Synopsis

Rafe Angelito thought he was done with the demons from his past—until his son is kidnapped. Blackmailed into abducting an American heiress, the legionnaire soon finds himself trapped in paradise with a fiery, daring beauty who’s nothing he expects…and everything he desires. But when he uncovers her own dark secret, Rafe realizes he’s made a critical mistake—one that could cost him everything.

Playing body double for a spoiled socialite was supposed to be Holly Ryan’s ticket to freedom. But when she’s snatched off her yacht by a tall, dark and dangerous stranger, the not-quite-reformed con artist will make a desperate play to turn her captor from enemy to ally, by any means necessary.

Yet as scorching days melt into sultry nights, Holly is drawn to the mysterious capitaine, with his unexpected sense of honor and his searing touch. When they’re double-crossed, they’ll have to risk trusting each other in ways they never imagined…because in this deadly game of deception, it’s their lives—and hearts—on the line.

Review

I went into this book totally not knowing what I was going to be reading. This hardly happens to me as I have a pretty good memory in regards to book synopses, etc. But all I could remember about this book was that I had read the synopsis, been intrigued and had it on my "to be read" list from the library.

What I got was a suspenseful romance! So not what I thought. Deception Island brings a great mix of suspense-thriller with Rafe, a soldier with a dark history, needing to kidnap an American Heiress in order to get his son back from his captors. What he doesn't expect is Holly, the American Heiress's double. Holly is strong, quick-witted, and has had to do her own share of fighting in order to survive. Together, they weather plans gone awry, and a growing attraction to each other - something that couldn't possible happen - right?

I don't have much background in suspenseful romance, but I was all over this book. My motivation to read it was actually that it was due at the library soon, haha. I'm glad I did though, because it had me turning page after page, hoping for Holly's well being, and for Rafe to be something more than what he was supposedly "destined" to be. This book is for any adventure-seeker who also enjoys a steamy romance. You won't regret reading this book!
