Getting Hot with the Scot
by Melonie Johnson

Synopsis

Cassie Crow, a pop-culture reporter for a TV talk show, is focused on becoming a “serious” journalist. But when she stumbles into a kilted Highlander with a killer accent, Cassie decides that taking one night off from work and spending it with a sexy Scot couldn’t hurt. . .

Logan Reid has built a career on his charm, hosting a series of off-the-wall hijinks on the Web. But when the Scottish prankster meets the all-American, equal parts intelligent and irresistible Cassie, Logan realizes that one night of fun won’t be enough. Could it be that this career-focused, commitment-phobic couple is finally ready to take a chance at true and lasting love?

Review

Getting Hot with the Scot was such a charming love story. I love that it had as much to do with friendship as it did with the unfolding love story between Logan and Cassie.

Logan comes off as an arrogant (albeit, charming) jerk in the beginning when he first meets Cassie. I sort of wish this would have deterred Cassie's attraction to him a little longer (because that's my trope, y'all), but their attraction was written well and I could see why she wouldn't want to wait.

I thought it was interesting that the author decided to take the idea of this romance a bit further than I believe other authors would have taken it. **spoiler** This romance turns from a vacation fling romance to a serious, commitment-heavy, and emotional story. This is by far - not bad at all. The author does it very well - I was just surprised to find so much emotion in a story that started as a summer vacation fling.

Cassie's friends are hilarious and sweet, and I love how Bonnie was her ultimate wing-woman. They also set up Bonnie's story (the upcoming book) very well and I cannot wait to review it! (yes, I already read it haha)

JUNK MAIL
By Kendall Ryan
Release Day: April 23

About the Book
It all started with a sexy selfie.

Texted to the wrong number.

Oops.

Not my finest moment—but I have nothing to be ashamed of.

She thought I was no better, and I quote, than the knuckle-dragging douche-bags she was never dating again.

It was a stupid dare from a girl I’d met online, but since she’d given me a fake number, I didn’t feel bad that my interests were suddenly focused elsewhere—on the fiery and sharp-tongued, Peyton that I found myself sparring with over text for the rest of the evening.

The following day, my case of mistaken identity came back to bite me in the banana.

When I strolled into the office, I was introduced to Peyton as the new client I needed to win over. The Peyton , in case you're not tracking.

And let’s just say she had my full attention.

Brains? Check.

Beauty? Oh yeah.

And the best part? She hated me on sight.

Dear God, do I love a challenge.

Let the games begin.

“Let’s get down to the nuts and bolts of this, shall we?”

Nuts?

Seriously, Hanson? Of all the words in the English language, you choose nuts?
But hey, on the plus side, she hasn’t seen the boys, just their leader.

Even so, I need to keep this meeting above the belt, including my own damn thoughts. I offer Peyton another apologetic smile. Time to get this deal back on track.

“Want to tell me more about your company?”

“I do. I really do.”

Her tone shifts instantly when she mentions her business, making me even more keen to hear her pitch.

I smile. A perfect, professional smile, as I cross my legs and fold my hands in my lap. I’m a motherfucking gentleman, not a junk-shot-sending caveman. “I want to hear all about it, Peyton.”

The only way to get past this mixup is to focus on business.

Not on her pretty face.

Not on those gorgeous eyes.

And definitely not on that dark hair I want to wrap around my fist and yank on it hard.

Four fucking months . . . that’s what’s wrong with my libido. It’s not operating in its normal overdrive. No, today, it’s at fucking warp speed. This is what happens when your own hand becomes your closest companion.

An Accidental Date with a Billionaire
by Diane Alberts

Synopsis

Samantha Taylor turned her back on her wealthy family to focus on social work. Those who know her think she’s the heart of kindness. Those who know her really well know she’s in a never-ending battle to make up for the harm her family’s companies inflict on the world. Which is how she finds herself at a charity bachelor auction of all places.

But oops, she was supposed to bid on her bff’s brother as a favor and accidentally bid on the wrong guy. Sue her for not being able to tell one stick-in-the-mud CEO from another.

Backstage, she goes to tell him not to worry about having to go through with a date or anything, but the oafish billionaire cuts her off dismissively. Looks her up and down, hands her a card with his assistant’s contact details, and reminds her that sex is definitely off the table.

Oh, she’ll call the assistant all right and have her make sure he wears jeans and comfortable shoes and to pick her up at seven a.m. The only “hammering” this guy is going to be doing is at Habitat for Humanity.

Too bad he turns out to be nothing like she expected.

Review

This is the first work I read by Diane Alberts and it will not be the last. Granted, if you are the kind of reader that cannot CANNOT suspend some disbelief, first of all, why are you reading romance, and two, get over it. The truth is that no, it's not a good idea to do A LOT of the things Sam lets herself do in this story, but you gotta put all that to the side and really pay attention to what the story is saying.

This story was sexy. SEXY. Steamy. Lovely. There is no denying any of that, but what I enjoyed the most was Alberts' way of creating flaws in her characters - real flaws. The hesitation and downright inability to trust, and the stubbornness to the point of OCD-ness of wanting to remain in control of EVERYTHING. These are real honest-to-heaven flaws that humans have to live with and Alberts' allows her characters to have them (and so much more, really). The absolute cherry on top for me (aka my FAVORITE THING) was *SPOILER OMG DON'T SAY I DIDN'T WARN YOU* that Taylor was able to throw caution to the wind with Sam and be able to live in the moment instead of having every moment planned and counted for. He was able to BE PRESENT and strive towards having what he wants instead of believing he doesn't love or need love or want love. It was truly a wonderful transformation to read about. Yes, I liked Sam to an extent, but Taylor was the character I most enjoyed and found myself being so proud of.

Read this and enjoy my dear readers.
