(Bachelor Auction)
by Naima Simone
Release Date: February 8th, 2016
Synopsis
He promised to stay away…but some promises are made to be broken
Plain-Jane computer programmer Khloe Richardson needs a date—one to make the prince of her dreams jealous. Maybe then he'll finally see her as a desirable swan and not the ugly duckling in the second office from the left.
But when she bids on a bachelor at a charity auction, the man she wins is millionaire Niall Hunter—who once made intense, passionate love to her and then left without a word. She's determined not to let her guard down again—among other things—around the infamous Irish lothario.
Niall never imagined his penance for one hot-as-hell night with his best friend’s little sister would be transforming her from a shy wallflower to a sultry siren. Helping her attract another man is torture...especially when he promised his friend he’d stay away. Plus, she wants forever, and he's not a forever kind of guy. But Niall can't stop wanting her. Can't stop touching her. Can't stop, period. And damn if he can remember why he has to...
Review
I'm getting a bit more into the swing of things considering romance books. I don't know everything yet - and I tend to stick to my contemporary - but I'm getting there. With that said, I did enjoy The Millionaire Makeover because it had the elements that I have come to accept as my "catnip". There is a hot bad boy (of course!), a nerdy curvy girl (though, I'd prefer more scenes showing us her nerdy goodness), and an "arrangement" (you know what I mean, right?). It was a major plus thinking of the hot bad boy also being Irish (accents! yay!). So, overall - yes, I enjoyed the book and it took me a night to devour it. I loved the dramatic tension between Niall and Khloe - it was hot. (In case you're wondering, there is A LOT OF SEX in this book. Like, a lot.)
Okay - now for the things I didn't like. Keep going if you don't mind spoilers!
What I cannot forgive - is the same thing I can never forgive in stories that I enjoy enough to read in one sitting. The Proposal. I DO NOT LIKE SUDDEN PROPOSALS. How can Niall just propose and Khloe just say yes?? They haven't seen each other in years, and the last time they did see each other, Khloe gave her virginity to Niall and Niall just left her/kicked her out. I know they've known each other since they were kids...but I don't think that equals "Hey! Let's get married!!!" Just no. If you don't mind proposals, by all means - enjoy. I can't stand them *shrugs*
