Good morning reader - I woke up today in a rather strange mood. Not bad, not good - somewhere in between. I suddenly felt the urge to watch youtube videos I have saved over the years - strange I know.

Have you watched this?
It's the first time I really get to watch this video and it made me think about what I read. I love most things I read because I feel that I know how to pick out what I like. I decided, however, after watching the above video that I want to expand my reading even further. I'd like to read a book from every state in the U.S. I haven't decided if this means the book comes from an author from every state, or the story is set in each state. I am leaning toward the latter. Eventually, I would like to work myself up to reading one from every country.

So, dear reader, if you have any suggestions for me, please drop them in the comment box, or email me at book.fidelity@gmail.com (or hit me up in any of my social media platforms!). I'll update you all on the books I decide as I start this literary adventure of mine.

Applied Electro Magnetism (Chemistry Lessons #4)
by Susannah Nix

Synopsis

A business trip with the office hottie turns into the road trip from hell.

Adam Cortinas may be gorgeous, but he’s made it clear he can’t stand Olivia—and the feeling is one hundred percent mutual. Too bad, because in order to bring the company’s new power plant online, they’re stuck with each other for the next week.

When their travel plans go horribly awry, Olivia finds herself stranded in the middle of nowhere with Adam, AKA the bane of her existence.

He’s in her space and in her head. All the forced proximity is driving Olivia insane. That’s the only explanation for these FEELINGS she’s suddenly having.

But it doesn’t change anything. They still hate each other.

Right?

Applied Electromagnetism is the fourth full-length novel in a series of standalone rom-coms about women in STEM, and the follow-up to 2019 RITA Award Finalist Advanced Physical Chemistry. Each book in the series features a new couple with their own HEA and can be read in any order.

Review

I am a HUGE FAN of Susannah Nix's writing. Her Chemistry Lessons series has been an absolute joy to read because they involve smart, fun, nerdy women falling in love - and I am all for it! Her writing showcases women in strong roles and I find it truly refreshing.

Applied Electromagnetism is no exception to the rest of the series. Olivia is a strong woman who knows what she's doing in her field. Adam is her almost-arch nemesis who takes Olivia at face-value, thinking she's a pushover who can't handle herself. I LOVE enemies to lovers romances. This book isn't ENTIRELY that (Olivia has more against Adam than the other way around), but it still has plenty of push and pull from these characters to satisfy that trope for me.

What I found to be most refreshing and insightful which I believe is super unique to this book is that both Olivia and Adam go through their very personal struggles and ultimately come together to understand each other. This may not sound unique, but I think it is because of how in-depth of a snapshot we get about each of their feelings. I REALLY REALLY wish we could have gotten alternate Adam-POV chapters (I love that in romance books), but the observations we get about Adam from Olivia's perspective was enough to satisfy that for me.

Applied Electromagnetism follows the rest of the series in its  focus on a strong woman and her romance life - it is sure to not disappoint!
About the Author

Susannah Nix is a RITA-nominated romance author who lives in Texas with her husband, two ornery cats, and a flatulent pit bull. When she’s not writing, she enjoys reading, cooking, knitting, watching stupid amounts of television, and getting distracted by Tumblr. She is also a powerlifter who can deadlift as much as Captain America weighs.

Bet Me to Stay
by Candace Havens

Synopsis

After a bet with his brother, Liam O'Connor has to date the next woman who walks into the pub. And he's all in, because his pub is on the line. What he didn't expect was Casey Meadows, who at first glance with her big glasses and bulky sweater looks like a woman who has many, many cats—but her wit and smile make him wonder what's underneath her bulky armor.

Casey Meadows aka sweet romance author Cassie O'Brien is about to lose everything. As in, her writing career is going down the drain because she can't write the sexy stuff that's selling these days. She needs inspiration in the worst way. That's when she walks into the wrong pub at the right time. Sexy owner Liam is just what the writing doctor ordered. Her whole body is feeling inspired—and when he makes a proposal she can't refuse—she's all in. Oh, hell yes. Best. Sex. Of. Her. Life. Thanks to Liam, she's about to write a best-seller.

But having an erotic romance alter ego is nothing compared to the real secret Cassie is hiding—and that one could destroy everything.

Review

This was such a fun and sexy book to read. It was fun to be in Casey Meadow's mind as she struggles with the lack of romance in her life and as she meets Liam. It was equally fun to be in Liam's head as he absolutely refuses consider being in a relationship even as his brother bothers him about doing something other than working. There was some meta stuff going on that I quite enjoyed since Cassie is a romance author who seeks inspiration to increase the sexiness in her books. Bet Me to Stay was a fast, fun, sexy, and sweet book to read. I enjoyed reading about the process this couple takes as they go from something seemingly casual to something so much more. There was a big plus to have Liam actually be the one to consider the distance their journey could take. If you love the romance genre, you will not be disappointed.
